David Ahlberg

David Ahlberg M.D., ABAM

Dr. David Ahlberg is a highly respected and experienced psychiatrist dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for patients of all ages. He earned his medical degree from Loma Linda School of Medicine in California and completed his residency in Psychiatry at East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina.

Dr. Ahlberg is licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina, Florida, California, and Hawaii. He is a Board-Certified Lifetime Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine and an active member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the Florida Medical Association. Since beginning his medical career in 2005, he has built a reputation for his broad expertise, clinical excellence, and unwavering commitment to quality patient care.

In 2007, Dr. Ahlberg founded Affiliated Medical Group, where he continues to provide outpatient psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults. Through Affiliated Medical Group, he has built a trusted practice known for helping individuals navigate a wide range of behavioral and mental health needs.

With extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, Dr. Ahlberg has treated a wide range of psychiatric disorders. He has also demonstrated his dedication to serving underserved populations through his past work as a psychiatrist within the jail system. In addition to his outpatient practice at Affiliated Medical Group, he continues to provide psychiatric services to several inpatient units across North Carolina through RHA Services.

Dr. Ahlberg is especially known for his collaborative, patient-centered approach to treatment. Beyond his clinical expertise, Dr. Ahlberg is well-known among patients for his signature “cold therapy,” the tradition of recommending a cold treat, like ice cream, as part of his philosophy that healing also comes through moments of comfort and joy. Patients visiting his office will even find a freezer with ice cream and other cold treats stocked and ready to share!

Debra Livingston-Green

Debra Livingston-Green PMHNP-BC

Ms. Green is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and is board certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Originally from Asheville, NC, she graduated from the University of California San Francisco, and returned to NC to work. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association as well as being a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Ms. Green has been a registered nurse for many years and has worked in various areas including Surgical/Trauma ICU, the Emergency Department and recovery room. She also has an interest in therapeutic humor, has been a member of the American Association of Therapeutic Humor. Ms. Green has given workshops on the healing effects of humor and assisted in developing a humor cart for hospitalized patients.

Believing that mental health and the physical body are closely connected, Ms. Green returned to school to obtain her Masters in Nursing with a specialty as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry and Mental Health. She did internships at the VA Medical Center in San Francisco and in other acute care settings. Her interests include the treatment of PTSD, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Anxiety and Depression. For recreation Ms. Green enjoys kayaking, paddle boarding, bicycling, writing and especially likes spending time with her dogs.

Jessica Burke

Jessica Burke MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Ms. Burke is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with training and experience treating patients with psychiatric disorders across the lifespan and across practice settings, from hospitals to outpatient clinics. Ms. Burke specializes in treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders, schizophrenia and PTSD.

Ms. Burke’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from WGU and a Master of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner specialization, from Walden University. Ms. Jessica Burke believes in a humanistic philosophy of holistic care for both mind and body, and an abiding commitment to individualized, personalized, comprehensive care for patients.

RETIRED: Alfredo E. Baker

RETIRED: Alfredo E. Baker M.D.

A retired Navy combat veteran psychiatrist, Dr. Baker served in the military as a senior Fleet Marines Forces & Surface Medical Officer as well as Flight Surgeon. Originally from Central America, he came to the U.S. with a student visa to learn English and fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a doctor.   

Dr. Baker earned a degree in biology and chemistry with an emphasis in mathematics at Loyola Marymount University. Then, he obtained a graduate degree in Bilingual Secondary School Life Sciences & Mathematics at Cal State University Northridge and was awarded the university’s Presidential Honor Medallion for Excellence in Teaching.  

Following his graduate schooling, he received a Navy scholarship for medical school at Temple School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his psychiatry residency at Bethesda-Walter Reed National Capital Medical Center, MD. 

Deployed multiple times with the Marine Corps Operational Forces, Dr. Baker’s service took him on combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. These experiences, combined with years of clinical care and research, drive him to provide quality medical care to his patients.

Apart from medicine, Dr. Baker’s interests involve technology — such as using mobile devices and apps to improve patient care, app design, database development, cybersecurity, networks, and data encryption. He also enjoys woodworking, listening to music, and exploring intercultural foods. Dr. Baker is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Dr. Baker has retired from practice but will always remain a part of the Affiliated Medical Group family.
